My Books

Before I became The Memoir Writer, I interviewed inspiring people and wrote true stories of resilience. These 55 stories became my two books published by Big Sky Publishing, each revealing a simple truth: throughout life, we all face significant challenges, and the experiences and wisdom we gather along the way deserve to be preserved.

I wrote those books because I believe in the power of real stories. They connect us, teach us, comfort us, and help us to navigate life. Telling your story also helps the storyteller make sense of their own journey, often finding deeper peace and satisfaction in the process.

Creating these books shaped the way I work today. I listen deeply, ask meaningful questions, gently support clients through emotional memories, and write your story simply and beautifully.

My work now, helping people preserve their own life stories, is a natural extension of that same passion.

Book cover titled 'Campfire for the Heart: Stories of Resilience' by Natalie Stockdale, featuring a lit campfire with flames and smoke at sunset over a dark landscape.

Campfire for the Heart

Stories of resilience, healing and hope

This book captures true stories of resilience from 30 Australians. Each story offers a glimpse into the human spirit, how we break, mend, grow, and find joy again.

Campfire for a Woman’s Heart

“Campfire for the Heart provides a gut-wrenching compilation of stories where those who have encountered their worst nightmare are able to not only recount how they survived, but often how they thrived in the face of seemingly unbearable tragedy.”

- Alexandra Wake, Assoc Prof, Journalism @ RMIT University

“With Campfire for the Heart, Natalie Stockdale has assembled a broad and thought-provoking collection that shares the often-traumatic experiences of a range of remarkable Australians, including her own. Delivered with humanity, intelligence, compassion and empathy, these stories become more than a record. They form a humbling and inspiring pathway towards a way of being that is elementally uplifting, despite – and in many ways because of – being born of suffering. “

- Mark Muller, Editor-in-Chief, R.M.Williams OUTBACK magazine

Desert dunes under a clear blue sky during daytime.

Stories from 25 international women overcoming tragedy and trauma.

My second book is honest, warm, emotional, and full of hard-won wisdom from women of all ages. Like the first book, each story includes reflections and tools for cultivating peace and joy.

“Everyone experiences grief or trauma in some way. It’s hard, but you never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have left. By reading these incredible stories, you can learn how these gutsy women got back on their feet. They found a way. You can too.”

- Lisa Curry AO

“In a world beset by trouble and concern, Natalie Stockdale has curated a truly inspiring series of stories that show how the human spirit is capable of overcoming great odds. With humour, compassion and uncommon sense, Natalie skilfully navigates the tricky balance of both staying true to the stories of courageous and unique acts of bravery while showing the potential for resilience and overcoming that lies within us all.”

- Hadleigh Fischer, Founder of Resilience Agenda & Co-founder of Mental Fitness Hub
